Maternity Fall Fashion 2009
With everything constantly changing each season, (the leaves, your belly, the trends) it may be a bit hard to keep up. When a new style comes in for the season the Trend Setter doesn’t always accommodate for all the pregnant women. Most of the time our bellies won’t fit in all the cute new styles. So we have gathered up some tips for this fall so you can still look fashionably up to date.
A TAILORED JACKET There is a return to tailoring and sophistication this season. While we won’t do to well in a tailored waist dress, who said we can’t do a tailored jacket. Be sure to purchase a tailored maternity jacket since it will be the base point of every woman’s wardrobe this season. The great thing about a tailored maternity jacket is that it can give your wardrobe personality. It’s the thing you can build around. Tip: Mix it up with a fitted comfy dress or your favorite designer maternity jeans and some boots.
MASSIVE NECKLACES Well this is something we haven’t seen for quite some time. Necklaces with colored stones and crystals that are big, inventive and architectural. While most will be able to pull off these massive necklaces we need to be on the more careful side. We don’t want to wear anything that gives off too much attention because it will take away our belly. Tip: Look for more simple necklaces with medium to small sized stones and crystals.
TOP-HANDLED BAG If you change anything up this season be sure to replace your slouchy-pouchy hobo purse with a ladylike top-handled bag in a yummy fall tone of aubergine, putty, camel, dark green, or chocolate. It doesn‘t matter how much you spend on the bag just know that you have an on-trend must-have. Tip: If you’re like me and can’t seem to break your black bag habit, then at least try to choose a black with a little shine, a crackled finish, or some hardware that really lifts the black up.
BANGIN’ BOOTIES Whether it’s the scrunchy boot, a mid-calf, or an over-the-knee boot, we think the boot is the most important shoe of the season. We love them with heels, stilettos, or flats…we love them all. It’s really about a boot wardrobe this season. And it looks fantastic with every single item in your closet. Tip: Pair your boots with a flowy maternity dress.
A SENSATIONAL SHIRT No longer just for secretaries or 80′s working girl, the bow-neck shirt is a pretty way to freshen up for fall – provided you proceed with a healthy dose of fashion-forward. If you’re wearing a bow shirt, it shouldn’t be too conservative. You don‘t want to look like you‘re running for office. Look for a feminine and pretty version with small ruffles. Tip: Pair with an edgy boot or accessory.
THOU SHALT NOT’s
BABYDOLLS If it’s too voluminous, it needs to go. Put baby dolls in the back of the closet! Those need to go away for a while because we really are celebrating the natural shape of the body, curves and all, with a longer, leaner more tailored silhouette.
BIG PANTS While it’s a great season for trousers, not all pants need apply. Be sure that your pant doesn’t have too big of a flair.
FAB FLORALS, NOT PAINTERLY PRINTS The painterly splashes we saw were very much the print of the season, but obviously that’s a summer look, so put that back in the back as well. Switch them out for a lighter, more natural floral with a dark background so it looks more relevant to the colder weather.
A Woman’s Fashion: What About Vintage Trendy Fashion?
While BeverlyLane.com has everything a stylish modern woman could want in new clothes, sometimes a vintage piece is exactly what you need to complement your new trendy fashion clothes. Besides, vintage fashion can save you a lot of money if you do it right. Here we present five of the best tips going for getting the most our of your quest for quality vintage gear:
#1 A woman’s fashion vintage tip: Don’t expect too much
Vintage is great, but you have to start out with realistic expectations. Those dreams of finding a trendy fashion designer suit for peanuts are unlikely to come true, if only because everyone else looking is hunting for the same sorts of things. A more realistic expectation is that you will find at least one thing you’ll enjoy wearing for a great price ever time you go vintage shopping. Our experience is that this is entirely achievable.
#2 A woman’s fashion vintage tip: Give yourself plenty of time
Shopping for vintage clothes can be a time-consuming process, because the clothes aren’t laid out neatly and with plenty of room like in a regular store. In fact, often vintage clothes are crammed together on racks or shelves, and you’ll need to sort through them yourself to find the gems. Also, vintage stores won’t be all together in a row like new trendy fashion clothing stores in a mall, so it will take you time just to get between one vintage store and the next.
#3 A woman’s fashion vintage tip: Learn the routines
Different thrift and vintage stores will receive deliveries of new (old) clothes on different days. Take the time to get to know the staff, and they’ll happily let you know the best days and times to come in so that you have first pick of the new trendy fashion stock. These days there are often professional eBay traders combing thrift stores for designer pieces to resell, so you need to be quick!
#4 A woman’s fashion vintage tip: Remember about alterations
If you find a great vintage piece in a vintage or thrift store, but it seems to be the wrong size or shape for you, don’t forget that you can always have a tailor alter the piece to your specifications. Tailors can’t work miracles, but at long as what you find is well-made and not much too small for you, they can usually help turn your vintage finds into wearable trendy fashion for you.
#5 A woman’s fashion vintage tip: Be accommodating and persistent
The best way to shop for vintage clothes is on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. This gives the thrift and vintage stores enough time to get in new stock to refresh their racks. Even then though, you’re rarely going to find exactly what you what. So rather than go into vintage shopping with a clear idea of what you want to find, like you might when shopping for new items, just browse, and look out for what is beautiful and of quality. Also, be persistent – sometimes when you shop vintage you’ll spend a fruitless hour, and walk away with nothing. This is all part of the game, so don’t let it discourage you. The next great vintage find could be just around the corner.
How to Prepare for a Career in Fashion Design
Every time that a new line of designer clothing makes its debut it means one thing for people looking to enter the field of fashion design and marketing. It means more jobs and more demand for people that have gone through the training that is necessary to work in the field of fashion design. Everyone has ideas that they think would be popularly accepted if they just had the chance to see them produced and marketed. The problem is, that not everyone knows how to go about the process of doing it.
One skill that is important in the field of fashion design is drawing but not just any drawing. Every successful fashion designer has to draw out his or her ideas before they can become reality. Learning to draw fashion designs is different from other types of drawing and there are a lot of books on it that someone can get to learn how to do it. Remember that, you can have all of the wonderful ideas that you want but if you can’t draw them out you won’t be able to communicate them to others.
Learning to sew is another skill that you will need to have if you are thinking of a career in fashion design. Sewing is a craft that you can never stop improving, so a lot of practice goes into becoming not just good at it but great at it. There are now high tech sewing machines that can help you to do great work, so you may want to consider investing in one. All great fashion designers are masters at working with colors and textures and subtle differences in color and texture can make the difference between a good and a great work. Painting and drawing will only help you to become better at working with colors.
