I remember when I was in 5th grade, I dragged my mom to this shoe store that used to be in my hometown. It was called Gordon's and it was more of a shoe outlet. They got all these amazing shoes from who knows where - close outs, department store dump offs, factory over runs, who the hell knows, really....
Gordon's was located in this big brick building that used to be some sort of warehouse. There were rows and rows of shoes after shoes after shoes. Every type of shoe you could think of, Gordon's had them. The stock constantly changed, the boxes were stacked under the styles displayed and what they had was out. And who am I kidding, I didn't ever have to drag my mother there, she always wanted to go...and when we did go to Gordon's it was always a 2 hour affair. I remember my mother walking up and down the aisles, trying on pair after pair after pair.
Gordon's is a solid and wonderful memory from my childhood. It went out of business long ago and I still miss it. My hometown isn't far away from NYC so I can only imagine the amazing shoes that would be coming through the doors if Gordon's were still in business.
Anyway, one day my mother and I took a trip to Gordon's and it was here that I got my very first pair of high top LA Gear sneakers. When I saw these heels, all I could think of was my LA Gears. Damn, I Lalalalalalalala--oved those shoes!
